Risk Mitigation Open Access Journals

Risk mitigation may be a strategy to organize for and lessen the consequences of threats faced by a knowledge center. Like risk reduction, risk mitigation takes steps to scale back the negative effects of threats and disasters on business continuity (BC). Threats which may put a business in danger include cyber-attacks, weather events and other causes of physical or virtual damage to a knowledge center.

Risk mitigation is one element of risk management, and its implementation will differ by organization. Although the principle of risk mitigation is to organize a business for all potential risks, a correct risk mitigation plan will weigh the impact of every risk and prioritize planning around that impact. Risk mitigation focuses on the inevitability of some disasters and is employed for those situations where a threat can't be avoided entirely. Instead of getting to avoid a risk, mitigation deals with the aftermath of a disaster and therefore the steps which will be taken before the event occurring to scale back adverse, and potentially long-term, effects.
