Phycology is a branch of life science and often is regarded as a subdiscipline of botany. Algae are important as primary producers in aquatic ecosystems.The branch of botany concerned with seaweeds and other algae.

Green growth are significant as essential makers in amphibian environments. Most green growth are eukaryotic, photosynthetic life forms that live in a wet situation. They are recognized from the higher plants by an absence of genuine roots, stems or leaves. They don't blossom. Numerous species are single-celled and tiny (counting phytoplankton and other microalgae); numerous others are multicellular to some degree, a portion of these developing to enormous size (for instance, ocean growth, for example, kelp and Sargassum). 

Phycology incorporates the investigation of prokaryotic structures known as blue green growth or cyanobacteria. Various minuscule green growth likewise happen as symbionts in lichens. 

Phycologists commonly center around either freshwater or sea green growth, and further inside those territories, either diatoms or delicate green growth.
