Abstract

Yellow mosaic virus affects growth and yield of mungbean

Mungbean is very nutritious pulse crop having larger area in Pakistan. Average yield is very low than other mungbean growing countries. Among many yielding limiting factors, MYMV is at the leading position which can cause up to 100% yield losses in case of severe attack. Six varieties/lines were screened for their morphological characters affected MYMV infection. Significant reduction in plant height, pods/plant, pod length, seeds/pod, 1000 seed weight and number of branches/plant. Among all the parameters, minimum % reduction (11.09%) was recorded in number of branches/plant and maximum (52.59%) in 1000 seeds/weight. Advance line M-97001 showed maximum reduction in 1000 seed weight.
