Abstract

Evaluations Of The Antioxidant Activity Of Medical Plant Grown In Morocco By Different Methods

Moroccan ecosystems are rich of a great and diverse floral of aromatic and medicinal plants that could be a potential source in in the discovery of new bioactive compounds with large spectrum of biological activities, one of these activities is antioxidant activity. Our study aim was to evaluate the phenolic content, flavonoid content and the antioxidant activity of a spontaneousmedicinal plant from morocco in order to identify new compounds could be used as natural antioxidant. For this study we used a different solvents and methods for extraction, also for the antioxidant activity of extracts, their fractions were measured by 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP). the results showed that all test extracts have an amount of phenolic, and flavonoid and good results in all the in vitro methods of antioxidant assays studied but this amount could be change with the change of the extraction solvent or the method used for extraction. This is the first report of the detail chemical composition and antioxidant activityof this plant. and the results suggest that this plant can be used as a new source of the natural antioxidants.
