Biography
Vincenzo Stanghellini is Specialist in “Internal Medicine” and “Gastroenterology”, Professor of “Internal Medicine” at the Department of “Medical and Surgical Sciences” at the “Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna”, and Chair of “Internal Medicine” in the Department of “Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology” of the “St. Orsola-Malpighi” University Hospital of Bologna, Italy. Research Fellow (1981-1983) and Visiting Professor (1983-1985) at the “Gastrointestinal Unit” of the “Mayo Clinic”, Rochester, Minnesota, USA. He received the Master Award for “Sustained Achievement in Digestive Sciences” from the “American Gastroenterological Association” (2009). Vincenzo Stanghellini is author of about 250 scientific publications on peer reviewed journals and is member of the “United European Gastroenterological Federation” (UEGF), “European Society of Neurogastroenterology and Motility” (former member of the Steering Committee), “American Gastroenterological Association” (AGA), “Italian Society of Internal Medicine” (SIMI) (past-President of the Regional Committee), “Italian Society of Gastroenterology” (SIGE), “Italian Group for the Study of Gastrointestinal Motility” (GISMAD) (past-President); International Foundation for Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders (IFFGD) (member of the Advisory Board). He is also Associate Editor, member of the Editorial Board and Referee for many peer-reviewed journals.
