Biography
Prof Sherif Sultan has three decades of vascular surgery experience and is President-elect of the International Society of Vascular Surgery. He is clinical vascular lead in the West Northwest Hospital group of the National Health Service Executive. This hospital group comprises seven hospitals and cares for a population of approximately 800,000 people. With state-of-the-art technology, diagnostic and interventional capabilities, and on-going educational opportunities, he delivers the highest level of care. He has a prolific clinical and bioengineering research portfolio with over 400 international peer-reviewed publications, 500 international presentations, and 250 national presentations. His research work has been recognised by 32 international awards. In 2002 he founded the Western Vascular Institute, a charitable research foundation committed to vascular research, technical innovation, professional and public education. He is a talented inventor with 17 patents and he received a Cleveland Clinic Enterprise Ireland Clinical Innovation award for his stem cell delivery catheter design.
