Biography
Dr. Mayank Sardana grew up in India and completed his medical school at the prestigious Maulana Azad Medical College in New Delhi before moving to the United States for his further medical training. He joined the Boston University Medical Center for his Internal Medicine training and was selected for the medical educator pathway during his residency. He presented his research findings at numerous local and national meetings. He was subsequently selected for the cardiology fellowship at the University of Massachusetts. Not only does Dr. Sardana take pride in the strong clinical training he has received, but he is also thankful to the great research mentors he has had the opportunity to work with. Dr. Sardana?s research during the fellowship involves understanding the correlates of left atrial mechanical function and identification of its prognostic significance for incident cardiovascular diseases in large epidemiological studies. He wishes to pursue a career in academic electrophysiology.
 
Research Interest
Echocardiographic measurement of left atrial function, identification of its correlates and its role in prediction of cardiovascular diseases in community-based studies. Development of novel echocardiographic indices to differentiate stress cardiomyopathy from acute myocardial infarction Identification of novel biomarker of arterial stiffness in diabetes and hypertension. Identification of the clinical and genetic predictors of atrial fibrillation recurrence after its ablation.
