Abstract

Forensic genetics is one of the promising branches in the field of forensics. It not only helps in confirming identity of a person, but also serves as the only piece of evidence in majority cases. This subject has come a long way, since its potential introduction in solving crimes. It has now reached a stage, where the advances can even detect DNA from few numbers of cells. Often when fingerprints or dental parameters fails to reach conclusion, DNA plays a major role. Be it sexual crimes or Identification of Victim or Assailant, DNA has been considered as one of the most reliable evidence.
