A Study to Assess CKD Patient's Knowledge About Arterio-Venous Fistula

Abstract

Dialysis is the treatment option available for people whose kidneys are not functioning properely.To undergo hemodialysis patients should have a vascular access, one such type of vascular access is AVF and it is also referred as the ideal vascular access for hemodialysis as chances of infection is very minimal in using AVF. This study was conducted to assess the chronic kidney disease patient’s knowledge regarding their arterio-venous fistula access at different stages starting from creation of an arterio-venous fistula, and in between the dialysis treatment extending till the termination procedures of an arterio-venous fistula. So this study focus on 173 hemodialysis patients with arteriovenous fistula. This study has been conducted as two parts using the questionnaire method i.e.; “Patients knowledge before creating AVF” and “Patients knowledge after creating AVF”. So this analysis helped to provide adequate knowledge to the patients who are not much aware of their AVF hand.
