Abstract

The Bone Layer Technique: long term results

The Bone Layer Technique allows for the horizontal and vertical regeneration of atrophic crestal ridge using a resorbable Cortical Lamina, a collagenated biomaterial and a collagen membrane. When the vestibular and/or lingual bony wall is missing, a fullthickness flap is released and the Cortical Lamina is fixed with titanium pins. The defect is then filled with collagenated biomaterials (e.g. mp3)the occlusal surface is covered with an Evolution collagen membrane. Flaps are then sutured with minimal tension, in order to allow for optimal blood clot stabilisation. The advantages of Cortical Lamina are multiple: the transformation into the new cortical plate in 6-8 month, the stabilization of the graft in a very short time. Suggested re-entry time is at 6 months, while the full resorption takes place in around 12 months. After a brief summary of the scientific evidence behind augmentation procedures, long term results will be showed
