Synthesis, characterization and pharmacological studies of biologically active benzimidazole derivatives

The reaction of aniline derivatives with ammonium thiocyanate yield 4-thiocyanoaniline. The thiocyano-aniline was condensed with o-phenylenediamine and carbon disulphide to get benzimidazole. These compounds were synthesized in good yield and their structures were confirmed by IR,1H-NMR and 13C-NMR .Antimicrobial activity against bacteria and fungi ,anti-inflammatory activity and analgesic activity were studied for the synthesized compounds
