Synthesis, characterization and dielectric study of PbZrO3 and BaZrO3

Solid solution of the Perovskites PbZrO3 and BaZrO3 were synthesized by solid state reaction technique. These compounds have been characterized by XRD, differential thermal analysis ( DTA), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA ) and derivative thermogravimetry (DTG). The XRD pattern obtained on these powders show the formation of pure orthorhombic phase of PbZrO3 and BaZrO3 without any impurities. The dielectric constant (e¢ ), dielectric loss (e¢¢ ) and quality factor (Q) of the compounds have been studied at 1 kHz in the temperature range of 300K to 1150K. The dielectric constant of PbZrO3 and BaZrO3 show rapid increase above 700K and 820K respectively. The dielectric loss show similar behaviour as dielectric constant
