Carbon-Based Solid Acid as an Efficient and Reusable Catalyst for the Synthesis of 4,6-Diarylpyrimidin-2(1H)-ones under solvent-free conditions

A simple and efficient method for the synthesis of 4,6-diarylpyrimidin-2(1H)-ones by one-pot three-component condensation of acetophenone derivatives, aldehydes and urea in the presence of trimethylsilyl chloride and a catalytic amount of carbon-based solid acid (CBSA) as an effective and reusable catalyst, under solvent-free condition is described. The present methodology offers several advantages such as simple procedure with an easy work-up, shorter reaction times, and high yields
