Drug Toxicology is a study of the effects of chemical and biological substances on human health. Toxicological studies may include direct animal experiments, epidemiological studies, or in vitro studies, in which chemicals and target species are represented in tissue culture directly attached to the laboratory. Drug safety and toxicology testing has benefited in recent years from biomarker applications, especially in the area of biomarker detection. As the number of drugs and drug targets increases, there is an equal need for easily measurable symptoms that can give an early indication of undesirable side effects. The process of assessing toxicity risk on computers or other interfaces remains imperfect and accompanied by uncertainty.
