Novel Anticoagulants For Drug Discovery

In recent decades new antithrombin binding molecules have been identified. The techniques used in this study are mainly based on the composition or chemical substitution of existing medicines, or on the use of natural compounds with substances similar to those currently used. Examples of such compounds are lignins and flavonoids, small organic ligands that appear to have similar properties to heparins. Therefore, the discovery of novel or advanced drugs for given diseases or special groups of patients, is a slow and expensive process. However, recent results show the finding using Virtual Screening (VS) for a novel novel victim, which is different than the previous one based on heparin.
