Family Practice Journals

Information for family publishing journals that publish original and influential research ≥1.5 was low for residents. Only 34% and 53% knew Ann Fam Med and BJGP respectively. Both of these journals contain high impact on family medicine, and the BJGP has been circulating for more than six decades. Directors of family medicine programs and skills in the departments examined need to make an effort to improve the deficiencies identified; 41% of residents indicated that the proposals for technical team members had an impact on the newspapers they chose to present to their news club. The relevant Editorial Boards need to promote their journals; Another possibility is to disseminate what they publish directly via email to residents as 39% report using electronic articles found in their news club. There is also a need to better understand why citizens in the four family medicine programs have less desire to choose articles in their behavioral journals.
