Biological weapon, also called germ weapon, any of variety of disease-producing agents—such as bacteria, , rickettsiae, fungi, toxins, or other biological agents—that could also be utilized as weapons against humans, animals, or plants. Biological weapons, like chemical weapons, radiological weapons, and nuclear weapons, are commonly mentioned as weapons of mass destruction, although the term isn't truly appropriate within the case of biological armaments. Lethal biological weapons could also be capable of causing mass deaths, but they're incapable of mass destruction of infrastructure, buildings, or equipment. Nevertheless, due to the indiscriminate nature of those weapons—as well because the potential for starting widespread pandemics, the problem of controlling disease effects, and therefore the simple fear that they inspire—most countries have agreed to ban the whole class.
