Journal of Liver is one among the simplest Open Access journals on functions of liver. Open Access journals are the main sources of data for young and aspiring generations who are keen to pursue a career in science. All the articles published within the journal are Open Access serving as a way of accelerating scientific discovery by providing free and unrestricted access of knowledge domain through the web . The liver provides a barrier between the portal and systemic circulations. In its reticulo-endothelial functions it acts as an efficient barrier against infection. It also acts as a metabolic buffer between the highly variable contents of the gut and portal blood and therefore the tightly controlled circulation . By absorbing, storing and releasing glucose, fat and amino acids, the liver plays an important role in homeostasis. It also stores and releases vitamins A, D and B12. It metabolizes or deactivates most of the biologically active compounds absorbed from the gut, like drugs and bacterial toxins. It performs many of an equivalent functions in systemic blood entering from the arteria hepatica , processing a complete of 29% of flow .
