Abstract

Understanding the applications of Second Life Batteries in RESS

Given the rise in the number of electrical vehicles, the batteries we use are mostly squandered by the users. This is done due to the lack of public knowledge and awareness that those batteries could be replenished for a second life instead of wasting their potentials through landfills. Such random disposals have detrimental effect on each of the environmental elements. The used batteries are recycled for a second life usage through well-designed mechanisms, as second life batteries (SLB) which has numerous applications, especially in utility-scale energy storage technologies for distributed energy systems with renewable sources such as solar and wind.

The oral presentation in the program will focus on the process of reviving the batteries for a second time usage without wasting the resources. By expounding the promising application of the technology and its future prospects, the presentation will also highlight how the technique could be disseminated among the community members to eradicate unplanned battery disposal. The usage of second life battery energy storage systems (SLBESS) will help to promote renewable energy and

electric vehicles among the members with substantial financial and economic benefit, and will contribute to the community and grid resilience by inspiring the utilization of carbon-free energy sources for a greener future.
