Important aromatic plants and their odorous components and Traditional healing uses

Herbal medicinal is known to more than 80% of world population.  Traditional medicine consists of health care’s and has been common before using formal and scientific medicine. Today, remarkable advances in modern medicine, we are confronted with an increasing tendency towards herbal remedies among those seeking for traditional therapies. Herbal therapy in Iran also dates back to a long time ago and a number of writings regarding this issue are left by great physicians e.g. Avicenna and Rhazes. Iranian botanists have led to recognition of around 150 spontaneous families of Angiosperms containing 124 Dicotyledonous and 22 Monocotyledonous and 4 Gymnosperms families. Also totally containing about 1450 genera and 8000 species which nearby 2000 species are endemic of Iran. One of them is very famous in producing essential oil is Rosa damacena. All essential oil Samples were analyzed by GC and GC/MS. The main constituents of oil extracted traditionally, samples were extracted by two hydro distillation method which designed by authors in Research Institute of Forests and Rangelands. were analayz and find it citronellol, cis-p-menth -2-en-1-ol, geraniol and some others component’s. Which experiments shown effects as anti-cancer, anti-bacterial. Therefore, Iranian traditional medicine had cited pharmaceutical dosage forms, e.g. powders, syrups, ointment, extracts, etc. In this presentation am going to present, The Photo-chemical screening of some medicinal and Aromatic plants, and traditionally patients consuming herbal remedies as Tanacetum parthenium, Rosa damascena are reviewed.
