Abstract

Impact of psychological factors on females of Polycystic Ovarian syndrome (PCOS)

The aim of the study was to investigate the psychological problems of females who are seeking treatment for polycystic ovarian syndrome. Thus it’s a physiological problem but it has mental impact on females so there is a need to explore the mental state of such females. Data was collected from private and government hospitals and clinics. Sample size was calculated by using G-power analysis. 180 females participated in the study. Females with any other psychological disorder were excluded from the study. Sample strategy was purposive and cross-sectional study design was used. Demographic sheet was used to gather their personal information along with following standardized scale; Social Interaction Anxiety Scale (Mattick & Clarke, 1998) .The proposed statistical analysis includes descriptive statistics and hierarchical regression).PCOS is a physical stress but its symptoms are related to their social and as well as psychological distress i.e. such women may face anxiety and distress while interacting with others, they may avoid social situations and preferred to be alone. Due to these condition women often stigmatized their bodies and keep themselves apart from others.
