Proteomics Peer Review Journals

Proteomics is the large-scale study of proteins. Proteins are vital parts of living organisms, with many functions. The proteome is the entire set of proteins that is produced or modified by an organism or system. Proteomics has enabled the identification of ever increasing numbers of protein.Modern proteomics benefits from the ability to assess the modification state of proteins directly, using a combination of techniques such as mass spectrometry, western blotting and enrichment. The proteome of a cell is of much greater complexity than the genome.Drugs, when they have beneficial effects, do so by interacting with proteins. Most proteins function via protein–protein interactions, and one goal of interaction proteomics is to identify binary protein interactions, protein complexes, and interactomes.
