Physical medicine and rehabilitation is a field of psychiatry. It is a medical branch specialized in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients who are suffering from disease, condition, disorder, or injury mainly using physical means involving non-surgical methods like physical therapy and medication to treat the patient. Rehabilitation can help regulate many body functions such as bowel and bladder problems, chewing and swallowing, thinking or reasoning, movement or mobility, speech, and language. A physiatrist is the one specialized in the treatment of problems related to musculoskeletal system, including bones, muscles, joints, ligaments, tendons, and other structures that affect a person’s ability. The primary goal of a psychiatrist is to make the patient as functional and pain-free as possible, and return them back to the normal.
