Nanotechnology (or "nanotech") is the invention of atomic, molecular and molecular scales. The first, sophisticated interpretation of nanotechnology refers to a particular aim of atomic and molecular technology with precision made of macroscale products, now called molecular nanotechnology. A more comprehensive interpretation of nanotechnology was later developed by the National Nanotechnology Initiative, which describes nanotechnology as a matter-of-fact scaling with at least one dimension ranging from 1 to 100 nanometers. This definition reflects the fact that quantum mechanics effects are important for this quantum-realm, so the definition has been moved from a specific technical objective to a research phase that includes all types of research and technology that deal with special phenomena of matter under a given size limit. It is therefore common to see the plural form "nanotechnologies" and "nanoscale technologies" to look at the wide range of research and applications that have their common feature in size.
