Chromatography is a basic Analytical Technique which is used in the Separation of mixtures. There different phases in chromatography, mobile phase and stationary phase. The mixture to be separated is dissolved in a fluid called mobile phase, this is carried through a structure called stationary phase. The various components in the mixture travel on the stationary phase along with the mobile phase. They get components gets separated on the stationary phase depending upon their partition coefficient. Thus the mixture is separated.

Chromatography can be preparative or analytical. Analytical Chromatography is used for the simple separation of samples with small amounts of mixture; whereas preparative chromatography is exclusively used to separate the mixtures for more advances usage.
