Sleep apnea is often unknown in the primary care setting despite its high prevalence and adverse effects on personal and community safety. Patients with neurologic and psychiatric illnesses, as well as those with severe and chronic health conditions, as well as those with sleep disorders, often have symptoms of excessive sleepiness, fatigue, and fatigue. The early recognition and treatment of these symptoms is important, even if their prognosis is not immediately understood.
