Influenza Virus Infection

Flu problems can include viral pneumonia, secondary pneumonia, sinus infection, and increased health problems such as asthma or heart failure. Three of the four flu viruses affect humans: Type A, Type B, and Type C. Type D were not known to infect people, but they are believed to have the power to do so. The flu, is an infectious disease caused by the flu virus. Symptoms can be mild in the presence. The most common symptoms include: high fever, runny nose, sore throat, muscle and joint pain, headache, cough and feeling tired. These symptoms usually begin two days after the virus is exposed and most usually last less than a week. The cough, however, can last for more than two weeks. In children, there may be diarrhoea and vomiting, but this is rare in adults. Diarrhoea and vomiting occur most commonly in gastroenteritis, which is an unrelated disease and is sometimes referred to as "stomach flu" or "24-hour fever".
