Free Adverse Drug Reactions Journal

An adverse drug reaction (ADR) is a drug-induced injury.  ADRs may occur following a single dose or prolonged administration of a drug or as a result of the combination of two or more drugs. The meaning of this word differs from the word "side effect" because the side effects can be beneficial and harmful. The study of ADR concerns is a field known as pharmacovigilance. An adverse drug event (ADE) refers to any injury that occurred while using the drug, even if it was identified as the cause of the injury.  ADR is a special type of ADE in which relationships can be identified. ADRs are only one type of drug-related injury, as injuries can also be caused by refraining from taking the indicated pills.
