Flavonoids are 15 carbon water soluble polyphenolic groups. It is diversified in to 6 major subgroups such as chalcone, flavone, flavonol, flavanone, anthocyanins and isoflavonoids. In combination with the carotenes, flavonoids are responsible for coloration of fruits, vegetables and herbs. Flavonoids are popular for its antioxidant activity.
