The forensic analysis of medicine is primarily wont to determine if an unknown sample is a bootleg drug or not. Complimentary, toxicology analysis aims to spot the presence of a bootleg drug during a biological samples (i.e. urine or blood). Drug analysis consists of comparing the qualitative analysis of unknown sample submitted to the laboratory to a known standard. This will be done by conducting wet tests, commonly mentioned a colorimetric tests to ascertain if a positive response occurs. Additionally, microscopic tests are often wont to identify the sort of medicine, this is often commonly finished material. Chemical composition analysis is typically performed using gas chromatography – mass spectrometry (GC-MS), infrared (IR) spectroscopy, or liquid chromatography – mass spectrometry.
