Pain management, pain medicine, pain management, or trauma, is a medical line that uses a medical method to reduce suffering and improve the quality of life of those living with chronic pain. The standard pain management team includes doctors, pharmacists, psychiatrists, physical health practitioners, paramedics, nurse practitioners, nurses, dentists. The group may also include other mental health professionals and practicing healers. Pain sometimes resolves as soon as the complex treatment or pathology is healed, and is treated by a single doctor, with drugs such as analgesics and (occasionally) anxiolytics. Effective management of chronic (long-term) pain, however, often requires the combined efforts of a pain management team. Active pain management does not mean the complete elimination of all the pain.
