Acute And Refractory Asthma Journals

Asthma patients are considered refractory when they experience persistent symptoms, frequent asthma attacks or low lung function despite taking asthma medications. Some refractory asthma patients need to take oral steroids such as prednisone to manage their asthma. While patients with refractory asthma make up only a small number, their condition can require frequent healthcare visits and significant medical costs, reducing their quality of life. The American Thoracic Society (ATS)-sponsored workshop gave a detailed information to participants on how to  define, understand, and manage refractory asthamatic patients. Perhaps more importantly, it is also hoped that these proceedings will highlight the many questions that remain, and eventually lead to improved outcomes.

Acute and Chronic Disease Reports is a peer-reviewed journal that aims to publish research dealing with chronic and acute diseases such as: Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, Acute Bronchitis, Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia, Cardiac failure, Crohn's disease, and chronic renal disease. The primary focus of the Journal lies in exploring the genetic and molecular mechanisms underlying these conditions and achieving a better understanding of the body’s response to these conditions.
