Bone Marrow Transplantation publishes high quality, peer reviewed research that address all aspects of basic biology and clinical use of haemopoietic cell transplantation. The journal also covers all aspects of the research and treatment of transplant-related complications and consequences, including quality of life and psychological issues. Basic research studies on topics of relevance are also covered.

Bone marrow is the soft spongy tissue that lies within the hollow interior of long bones. In adults, marrow in large bones produces new blood cells. Bone marrow forms around 4% of total body weight. There are two types of bone marrow: red marrow that is responsible for producing red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets; and yellow marrow consisting mainly of fat cells.
