Persistent Organic Pollutant (POPs)

POPs are the harmful organic compounds that remain in the environment for the longer duration. They cannot be eliminated because of resistant to degradation. They can transport by air, water and within ecosystem via food chain or food web. Insecticides, pesticides, Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT), Polychlorinated dibenzofurans, Dioxinsetc are the common (POPs) which causes major health effects among humans.
