Critical care or Intensive care medicine includes the treatment for people with serious injuries and illness. It also includes the complex situations of accidents, surgeries, infections and severe breathing problems. Critical care usually takes place in an intensive care unit (ICU) or trauma center. Intensive care units (ICU), also called critical care or intensive therapy departments, are sections within a hospital that look after patients whose conditions are life-threatening and need constant, close monitoring and support from equipment and medication to keep normal body functions going.
