Gastrointestinal stromal tumor is the most common sarcoma of the gastrointestinal tract. The tumor can originate anywhere from the oesophagus to the rectum, Most GISTs are found in the stomach and small bowel but can occur anywhere along the GI tract. Uncommonly, Gastrointestinal stomal tumor arises elsewhere in the abdomen outside of the gastrointestinal tract. Symptoms of Gastrointestinal stromal tumor can vary depending on the size and location of the tumour. They may include: Blood in stools or vomit, Painless lump in the abdomen, Discomfort or pain in the abdomen or around organs
