The first requirement of any breeding programme, to release or produce genetic variation in the characters or traits in which we are interested. Genetic variation will be achieved by Hybridization. Hybridization is the crossing of two genetically different plants to achieve genetic variation. There are different types of Hybridization procedures for self and cross pollinated crops
