Biography
Dr. Kevin Cassel received a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania in 1984. He earned his MPH in Epidemiology in 2005 and a Doctorate in Translational Research in 2011 from the University of Hawaii at M?noa. Dr. Cassel is currently an assistant professor at the University of Hawaii Cancer Center in Honolulu. His research is motivated by his 17 years of experience working with the diverse communities found in Hawaii and the US-Associated Pacific jurisdictions. Dr. Cassel employs community-based participatory research methods to help address the critical cancer prevention and control issues found in these populations. His studies are focused on:
1. Developing and testing methods to improve clinical trials participation among the multiethnic populations in Hawaii and the US-Associated Pacific jurisdictions
2. Identifying, adapting and testing existing evidence-based interventions to address cancer-related health disparities in the multiethnic populations of Hawaii and the US-Associated Pacific jurisdictions
