Biography
Dr. Yan majors in Enzymology, molecular biology, microbiology, received his PhD degree at Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 1998. Subsequently, he became an associate professor, then a full professor of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). From 2000, he was appointed as a consultant scientist of the Department of Rural and Social Development of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China. He now is the vice dean of College of Life Science and Technology, HUST and deputy director of Key Laboratory of Molecular Biophysics of the Ministry of Education. He is the member of ACS and ASM. He has discovered more than 20 lipases, developed a series of techniques on large-scale lipases production, enzymatic transesterified biodiesel production and its high-valued products. He has established a demonstration assembly line of 20,000-ton scale of enzymatic catalyzed biodiesel production and a demonstration assembly line of 15,000-ton scale of high-valued products of dimmer acid methyl ester, polyamide resin and polyurethane in China. So far, he has published over 120 SCI-indexed papers, compiled 12 monographs and textbooks, and awarded 10 items of civil and international prizes.
