Biography

Dr. Çelik is researcher of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at the University of Trakya Medical School in Edirne, Turkey. His current research interests genetic basis of endocrine diseases, particularly those involving the thyroid and parathyroid glands as well as obesity and neuroendocrine regulation of food intake and body weight, molecular basis of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes, Gaucher?s disease,pituitary adenomas. The focus of his work is to understand the pathogenesis and the biology of thyroid cancers with the goal of identifying new molecular-based therapies. He is currently member of Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism of Turkey, and the European Society of Endocrinology.

Research Interest

Pituitary disorders, neuroendocrine regulation of substrate and energy metabolism, endocrine hypertension, pheochromocytoma, multiple endocrine neoplasia and adrenal diseases, insulin resistance , type 2 diabetes , clinical thyroidology, the molecular basis, clinical and therapeutic aspects of thyroid cancer, steroid hormones excess and defect, specifically male hypogonadism, Cushing?s syndrome and adrenal insufficiency.
