Biography
Dr. Xiaobao Ying works as biological scientist in Gulf Coast Research and Education Center, University of Florida at present. He earned his Ph. D degree from Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2010. His work on RDR1 was published in Plant cell, the top journal in plant science. He went to US as postdoctoral associate in 2011. His research focused on Huanglongbing, the most destructive disease of citrus worldwide. He screened putative virulence factors of Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus, the causal agent of Huanglongbing. Some of the results were published in MPMI. Now, his work is on enhancing citrus resistance to Huanglongbing by transgenic approach. Dr. Ying has lot of experience in plant virology, RNA interference, and molecular plant and pathogen interactions.
