Veronique SeidelDepartment of Natural Products Chemistry, University of Strathclyde, UK.
Biography
Dr. Veronique Seidel graduated with an MSc in Medical and Biological Sciences (Hons) and a DPharm (Hons) from the University of Lille, France. In 1999, I obtained a European label PhD in Phytochemistry from the Universities of Lille and Strathclyde. She also hold a Certificate in Advanced Academic studies from the University of Strathclyde.
Following a period as a teaching assistant in Pharmacognosy at the University of Lille, she have worked as a postdoctoral researcher on natural products biosynthesis at De Montfort University (funded by the EU), and antimicrobial natural products at the School of Pharmacy in London (funded by The Wellcome Trust). In 2003, she returned to the University of Strathclyde as a Lecturer in Natural Products Chemistry.
Research Interest
Dr. Veronique Seidel field of research is the investigation of nature as a source of biologically-active substances and novel chemical entities of pharmaceutical interest. I am experienced in:
Bioassay-guided fractionation of extracts of natural origin (plants, microbes, bee products)
Isolation and structure elucidation of natural products
Ethnopharmacological investigation of traditional remedies
Screening of natural products for antimicrobial activity
