Biography

Dr. Ng Zhi Xiang is currently an assistant professor in molecular nutrition at the School of Biosciences, Faculty of Science, University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus. He obtained his PhD in Molecular Biochemistry from the University of Malaya in 2012. Dr Ng has 10 years of research experience in health and medicine and biomedical sciences. His current teaching interests include biochemistry, nutrition, and biotechnology related modules. His area of research covers antioxidants, metabolic disease risk factors (e.g. diabetes mellitus & related complications), genetic and protein biomarkers, as well as food sciences & nutrition. His current research interests include but not limited to the field of medicinal plant food processing and nutritional enhancement benefited from postharvest technology. In the past, Dr Ng had provided research consultation service to a well-known mineral water company, namely the Spritzer Sdn Bhd. The significance of his works had been recognized in a number of high impact scholarly publications (ISI), conferences and symposia. Currently, he is an editorial member for 8 international scientific journals and has involved in the peer review of more than 20 international journals. He is also a member of Malaysian Scientific Association (2016-present).
