Biography

Dr. Gu is a Senior Florey Research Fellow and the head of the Innate Phagocytosis Lab in the Florey Institute of Neuroscience & Mental Health. He received his B.Med(Pathology) from Shanghai Medical University, and MSc(Med) & PhD from the University of Sydney. After a productive 14 years in western Sydney, Dr Gu joined the Florey Institute, the University of Melbourne in 2010, and established his lab. Dr. Gu has published a lot of articles in high impact journals and received many awards and grants. He is also the Editor-in-Chief and Chief Scientific Advisor in Medjaden Bioscience Ltd, one of the biggest scientific editing and consulting companies in China.

Research Interest

Purinergic receptors especially P2X7 and P2X4 receptors, real-time multi-colour flow cytometry methods, innate phagocytosis, , flow cytometry, leukocyte biomarkers for Alzheimer?s disease (AD) and age-related macular degeneration (AMD), the pathogenesis and treatment for AD, AMD, multiple sclerosis (MS) and bacteremia.
