Biography

Matteo Becatti graduated in Biological Sciences in 2006. In April 2010 he get the PhD. Since his graduation he has been devoted to research on the molecular pathways evoked by oxidative stress in several disorders, in particular dermatologic diseases (vitiligo and psoriasis). In 2010 he have demonstrated the pivotal role of p38 MAP kinase as an upstream signal of perilesional keratinocyte damage, and the important contribution of p38 and NF-kB on p53 accumulation (Becatti M et al, Antiox and Redox Signaling, 2010). Furthermore, Matteo Becatti is first author of the first publication that demonstrates the protective role of SIRT1 in vitiligo and its underlying mechanism (Becatti et al, J Cell Mol Med, 2014). He proposed SIRT1 activation as a novel way of protecting perilesional vitiligo keratinocytes from damage.
