Biography
Dr.ASM Giasuddin obtained MSc in Biochemistry from Biochemistry Department under Dhaka
University, Bangladesh in 1969. He started his career in 1970 as Research Biochemist under Prof Dr
M lbrahim MBBS MRCP FRCP (UK) at Medical Research Council laboratory, Dhaka, Bangladesh. He
then got admission at Royal free Hospital School of Medicine (RFHSM) in September L972 for
postgraduate studies and obtained PhD in Biochemistry from London University, UK in April 1976
under Prof Dr AT Diplock PhD DSc, with whom he continued postdoctoral fellowships in Biochemistry
at RFHSM and United Medical and Dental Schools (UMDS), London University until October 1979.
Meanwhile, he obtained Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in immunology from Chelsea College, London
University, UK in August 1980. Prof Dr Giasuddin then continued postdoctoral fellowships under Prof
Dr T Lehner BDS M D FRCPath at U M DS, London U niversity u ntil May 1"982. He has been in Teaching,
Research and Diagnostic posts in various countries and Professor of Biochemistry and lmmunology
for the last 20 years since 1996 in medical schools and universities (medical faculties) in different
countries such as UK, Nigeria, Libya and Bangladesh. Presently, he is serving as Director of Medical
Research Unit (MRU), MCW&H Building, MHWT, Uttara, Dhaka, Bangladesh. He has published over
125 articles in reputed international and nationaljournals.
