Biography

Bob Miller is the Senior Associate Dean for Research at George Washington University’s (GWU) School of Medicine and Health Sciences and the Vivian Gill Distinguished Research Professor. Previously, he was Vice President for Research and Technology at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU). He obtained his B.Sc. and Ph.D. from University College London. Dr. Miller has published more than 200 papers in the area of neural development and disease with a particular interest in the brain and spinal cord. He has served on multiple review groups including as chair of NIH study sections. He is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Shriners Hospital and has served on the advisory board for the Maryland Stem Cell Foundation. He serves on the Editorial board of a number of neurobiological and developmental journals. He has won numerous awards, including the Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship Award, Jacob Javits Neuroscience Merit Award, and the Charles Judson Herrick Award.

 
Research Interest

Dr. Miller has a primary interest in CNS neural development with a focus on understanding the biology of neural diseases including Multiple Sclerosis, Brain tumors and Cerebral Palsy. Dr. Miller's development research has focused on understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms that regulate glial cell determination in the developing vertebrate CNS.
