Biography

Shamala Moodley received the Joseph Award for ?Best Article? published in Medical Technology SA. Her additional recognitions were inclusion in ?MARQUISE WHOs WHO- SYMBOL OF EXCELLENCE? 2013 and 2014 - recognition for individuals who are leaders in their specific fields of expertise. She is currently collaborating and engaged with HEAIDS in the HIV/AIDS curriculum development programme for Mangosuthu University of Technology. She is an Institutional Representative of the Research Committee and the Research Ethics committee. She has further contributed as a peer reviewer for numerous journals and publication houses such as the NRF (Funding/Grants),OMIC Publications, British Medical Research Journal, African Journal of Microbiology Research, Tropical Medicine etc. Her current affiliation is with the Health Proffessional Council of SA (HPCSA) and The Society of Medical Laboratory Technologists SA.

Research Interest

Her research activity includes publications both nationally and internationally. She has coordinated numerous HIV/AIDS projects between Mangosuthu University of Technology and the Medical Research Council (SA). Her work also involved developing and constructing a HIV module for students in tertiary institutions and delivery of AIDS awareness talks at schools. She presented at International and National conferences and also attended a Stem Cell course at the Australian Stem Cell Centre (Brisbane), in 2010. She is the external moderator for Clinical Pathology examinations held by the South African Medical LaboratoryTechnologists organisation.
