Director, Pain Association Scotland
SONIA COTTOM is the Director of a National Charity providing self-management for people with Chronic Pain. I have had many years of experience of being involved in national healthcare initiatives as well as being part of the Scottish Government?s National Service Improvement Group. I have been involved in various consultations at both Health Board and Local Authority level as well as sitting on the Reference Group of the British Pain Society. Some of the other committees on which I serve are the Service Improvement Groups of local Health Boards throughout Scotland, the Chronic Pain Policy Coalition, the Cross Party group for Chronic Pain and a member of the International Association for the Study of Pain and the Institute of Directors.
research interests are around knowledge transfer and the impact of how the structure of an organisation can have an effect on patient outcomes. Also, looking at transformative service research and the measurement of the quality of improvements made for patients rather than just ?what? they have learned.
