Biography
Mohammed N. Al-Ahdal (a Bio-Pharmacist) has completed his B.S. in Pharmacy at King Saud University in Saudi Arabia in 1975 and his Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1985. He is currently the Chairman of the Department of Infection and Immunity at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he has been working as a researcher for the past 30 years. He is a Principal Scientist in Microbiology and Immunology and a Professor at Alfaisal University School of Medicine in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He is an Adjunct Professor at Sassari University in Italy and at Brunel University in the U.K. Dr Al-Ahdal taught graduate and undergraduate courses in several Universities, and supervised master and doctorate students in national and international Universities. He has published more than 120 papers in peer-reviewed journals. He is a Senior Editor of the Journal of Infection in Developing Countries and among the Editorial Board of various other scientific journals. His scientific interests and research include, but not limited to, the molecular epidemiology of respiratory pathogens as well as the cellular immunity to these infections.

Viral genomics and molecular epidemiology of viruses. Genetics of antimicrobial resistance. Molecular diagnosis of viruses and other infectious agents. Interaction of natural cytotoxic immune cells with viruses. Transcriptional regulation of virus replication. Antiviral and antimicrobial activities of synthetic chemical compounds. Strain identification of nosocomial bacterial isolates. Biotechnology-derived medicine manufacturing and registration regulations.
